Original Art Deco Walnut and Macassar Dining Suite, Can you see the animal in the veneer? What colour leather would suit?A stunning and rare original art deco dining table with book matched figured walnut veneer and macassar cross banding. The attention to detail during the design process all those years ago is second to none. Even the pedestal bases have the same wood combinations that continue down the canted corners. Can you see the animal in the veneer looking at you? Its identical on all 4 larger sides of the pedestal bases and looks amazing!
The table commissioned by it previous owners in the 30s is a wider table than usual and was regularly used by 8 comfortably The photos show all 8 chairs, 2 of which are carvers.
Similarly the sideboard has the most magnificent shape and is great for storage, once again you see the different woods complementing one another so beautifully.
This outstanding quality suite is ready to be reupholstered, you can see from one of the photos that the chairs have walnut either side of an upholstered centre piece on the back rest leading to an arched top, the actual chair backs are full walnut. I am leaning towards cream leather but it would be lovely for its new owner to personally choose the colour!
